Getting Back to Photo Business at Generations Photography
Updated: Jan 9
It's hard to believe that on 23rd of March our lives changed forever as we went into lockdown. I don’t think we will ever forget 2020 and the impact Covid19 has had on us all. It has certainly made me realise just how precious life is and how important it is to spend quality time with your family and friends.
I am pleased to announce that the Generation’s Photography Studio will be back open for Photoshoots on Monday the 6th of July in accordance with Government guidance, but things will look a bit different, which I will explain below. I have been working behind the scenes putting these measures in place to make sure my studio is Covid-19 secure.
I think the one thing Covid-19 has emphasised is the importance of family life and how hard it is not being able to see our family and loved ones on a regular basis. It’s now more important than ever to take a step back and appreciate what you have right in front of you. The time will come when you will want to remember these precious moments and what better than in a photograph you can have permanently displayed on your wall. I offer a range of different photoshoots at Generations to help you capture those lifelong memories.
You can book the different Photoshoots on my website and can choose a day and time on my calendar to suit you and your family’s needs.
My Norfolk Photography Studio is a separate building from my house with its own entrance & I am the only one who has access to it. It is a family friendly space and has everything you could need during your photoshoot. There is a comfy sofa with an assortment of magazines available. I also provide hot and cold drinks. There is a spacious bathroom with a potty, toilet seat cover, step stool and baby changing facilities. There are also baby changing products available. The main studio room is where I do the majority of my photoshoots. I have a separate wet room for all the messy photoshoots: cake smash, fruit splash, paint splash & messy chef.
At Generations Photography I have always taken health and safety as a priority. Keeping my studio a clean and safe space has always been my focus even before the Covid-19 pandemic, because when working with children, there is always a risk of germs and illness spreading. I want to reassurance my clients that your healthy and safety is my number one priority, so I will be introducing some changes and additional measures to the way I deliver my Photoshoots in the studio.
These procedures below will be adhered to before, during and after each photoshoot, for the foreseeable future, when the Covid-19 virus is still considered to be an active threat.
Types of Photoshoot
Photoshoots are currently strictly limited to immediate family from the same household only with no additional guests e.g. no Grandparents / Cousins. If it is not necessary please do not bring any extra family members to the photoshoot, as this will make it harder for me to socially distance myself from you all (if in doubt please message me to discuss this).
Some types of Photoshoot will not be available to book at present due to being higher risk or some changes will be made to them to make them safer for us all:
-Maternity Photoshoot-currently pregnant women fall into the coronavirus moderate risk category. The guidance states that if your at moderate risk from coronavirus, it's very important you follow the advice on social distancing. This means you should stay at home as much as possible. Therefore as a Maternity Photoshoot puts the client at extra risk of exposure, these photoshoots will not currently be offered at this time.
-Newborn Photoshoot-As the photographer holds the baby for the majority of the photoshoot so that I can pose them in and out of props, I cannot therefore maintain the 2 metre social distancing rules in a Newborn Photoshoot.
-Family Photoshoot-family photoshoots will only be carried out if the clients are all from the same household, this is to uphold current Government rules. Family Photoshoots are for a maximum of 5 people to make social distancing easier.
Before the Photoshoot
-If I am unwell I will postpone your photoshoot and it will be rearranged
-If you, your child or any family member are showing any signs of any illness. prior to the photoshoot, or you believe you may have been exposed to the Covid-19 virus please contact me so your photoshoot can be postponed until you are better.

-In regards to hands on contact with your children, I will need to keep that to a minimum to uphold social distancing, so for the time being parents will need to take a more hands on role in the photoshoot, including putting your child in a seated position, sitting close by to them during the photoshoot.

-There will be increased cleaning after each photoshoot in higher risk areas and higher risk surfaces. When cleaning after a Photoshoot gloves will be worn. A disposable cloth, will be used to firstly clean hard surfaces with warm soapy water. Then these will be disinfected with Milton. Particular attention will be given to frequently touched areas and surfaces, e.g. door handles, light switches, toilet handle (only one photoshoot is booked in per day to allow this to happen).
-Clients are asked to wash their hands with hot water in the bathroom before leaving the studio.
-Clients will be asked to double bag nappies & take them home to dispose of.
